- A free viewing of the movie Space Warriors will be available to our guests at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., April 26- May 4. The movie was filmed at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL. It is directed by Sean McNamara (Soul Surfer) and features Thomas Horn, the breakout young star of the recently Academy Award nominated film, “Extremely Loud, Incredibly Close” along with Josh Lucas, star of NBC’s The Firm. The film will be released nation-wide April 26. Concessions will also be available. Be a part of our first movie launch!
We also welcome a new exhibit and an indoor playground in April as well!
- Mississippi State University’s EcoCAR2 arrives on April 13th. The Eco Car is part of a three-year collegiate engineering competition and promotes the advancement in engineering and environmental initiatives. The car takes about 4 hours to charge off a 220 volt battery and when charged it will go 60 miles on that charge then diesel takes over and it gets approximately 188 MPG! It was recently displayed at the Smithsonian. You’ll get to see how the team of 84 MSU students are creating a more energy-efficient vehicle.
We will also celebrate NASA’s Role in Earth Week with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)-oriented activities April 16-22, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to construct solar beads and learn the effects of UV rays, build molecule models using gumdrops, create a tornado in a bottle and participate in fun experiments in our Experimentation Station.
