Science Saturdays

INFINITY Family Classes are designed for families with children ages 6-15 to explore different topics in science together. The cost for the classes includes admission to the science center and the 2-hour class for the registered participants. Adults  (18+) are $10, and children (6-15) are $20. Class sizes are limited to 25 (including adults). Children taking the classes must be accompanied by an adult. A non-refundable deposit is required with the registration.  Classes meet in our education wing from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

September 1st:  Environmental Science - We will explore ecology, including pollution (air, water, and land) and endangered and invasive species. Registration coming soon. 

October 6th:  Rocketry - Come blast off with Infinity Science Center! In this exciting program, participants will have a chance to build and launch their very own rocket! We will discover the science behind rocketry and how it's applied to space exploration while we explore Newton’s 3 Laws. Don't miss your chance to join us for liftoff! Registration coming soon. 

November 3rd:  Think Like an Engineer - Engineering is all around us. Do you have what it takes to be an engineer? Come discover the engineering design process and use it to solve a problem.  Registration coming soon. 

December 1st:  Forensics 101 (Ground Water) - Become a forensic scientist and help determine who is contaminating the local ground water. Use chemistry to identify the source of ground water toxicants. Registration coming soon. 

*December 22nd:  Christmas Chemistry - (This is a special Science Saturday. Open to grades 6-12) Basic chemistry and chemical reaction experiments with a special take-home ornament kids will decorate using a chemical reaction! Class is focused on demos and hands-on experiments to ignite curiosity and exploration of the science of chemistry. Registration coming soon.

January 5th:  Forensics 102 (Litter Bug) - Each year Americans generate nearly 210 million tons of trash. That equates to four pounds of trash per person per day! Use forensic problem-solving skills to narrow down and determine who is littering the streets in the town of Bradley. Registration coming soon. 

February 2nd:  Electricity - (This meets the requirements for the BSA Electricity badge.) What is the difference between static and current electricity? Let’s explore circuits. Registration coming soon.

April 6th:  Introduction to Cell Biology - a fun introduction to the hidden world and functions of cells, basics of plant and animal cells, and discussion about progress in cell and genetic research and discoveries that will impact our future. Learn how to extract DNA and examine your own cells under a microscope! Registration coming soon. 

May 4th:  Weather - Are you ready for the weather? Come explore different weather atmospheric phenomena, learn how scientists predict weather, and discover the difference between weather and climate. Become a community scientist and a member of GLOBE, and record your local weather. We will discuss disaster preparedness and how to be ready for the extreme weather for our local area. Registration coming soon.
