Bus tours, on a first come, first served basis, are an approximate thirty minute behind-the-scenes bus tour through America’s largest rocket engine test facility, and one of the most unique scientific complexes on Earth – Stennis Space Center (SSC). Tours depart INFINITY Monday – Saturday every hour (11am, noon, 1pm, 2pm, and 3pm). For all tours, you’ll need to sign up 30 minutes prior to departure.
You’ll take a guided twenty-mile ride through the restricted zone of the 14,000 acre facility that’s a valuable asset to this country. Your guide will showcase some of the history of the site and reveal astonishing facts about some of the ground-breaking scientific work happening at SSC on a daily basis.
Built in the 1960′s to test the history-making Saturn V rocket engines that carried men to the moon, it now hosts a vast array of federal, state and educational agencies – as well as private high tech companies and corporations like Rolls Royce. It’s also home to the largest concentration of oceanographers in the world, working with the Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command.
