Front Desk Cashier

PART TIME | $10 AN HOUR

Reports to: Manager of Museum and Guest Experiences

This position performs a variety of duties including but not limited to: selling Museum’s various ticketing products,
memberships, programs, and gift shop items. FDC is responsible for school/group/camp check in’s and ensuring an
exceptional guest experience.

This position is part-time, shifts are scheduled during Museum’s hours of operation. Winter hours Thursday-
Sunday 8:30am-4pm, Summer hours Wednesday-Sunday 9:30-5pm, weekends, special events and some holidays
are required.


QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma, GED or greater
Previous cashier/retail experience
Experience working with children and families is a plus

KEY ROLES:

  • Responsible for overseeing the Front Desk and Gift Shop
  • Operating the point of sale system and register by handling all cash and credit card sales
  • Welcoming guests to Museum while executing exceptional guest service
  • Assisting guests with information about museum and gift shop
  • Restock, assist in merchandising and display, and cleaning and straightening of shelves
  • Accurately close out and make sales report
  • Maintains a clean, orderly and safe area at front desk, in gift shop and stock room.
  • Assists other staff as needed.
  • Thank customers upon their departure.
  • Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
  • Interact professionally with other employees, customers, and suppliers.
  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Employee is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions
  • Communicate orally in small or large group settings is required
  • Working inside a loud environment
  • Must be able to frequently lift up to 50 lbs.

Museum Host

PART TIME | $10 AN HOUR

Reports to: Manager of Museum and Guest Experiences

The INFINITY Guide promotes INFINITY Science Center’s mission by providing superior visitor
experiences through exhibits, hospitality, and by enhancing the visitor’s educational experiences through
STEM activities. Museum Host will explain and show educational movies, conduct science
activities with guests, and visit with guests about the science center, answering questions and providing
accurate information. Hosts will provide information and answer questions about INFINITY to arriving
guests, work at registers for admissions and gift shop sales and clean and restock retail shop. Hosts will
also assist with classes and special events on an as-needed basis. INFINITY museum hosts will handle
challenging situations calmly, with respect and a positive problem-solving mindset and make providing
superior customer service a priority.

Qualifications


Education

- Enrolled in college or successful completion of a college degree
- Previous experience with informal education a plus
- Experience working with children and families a plus


Necessary Skills

- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills and professionalism when interacting with visitors,
staff and volunteers
- Has the ability and willingness to follow oral and written instructions
- Possesses good work habits and is extremely dependable
- Is able to handle tense circumstances and keep a positive mindset
- Is able to problem solve in a timely manner
