2018-2019 Homeschool Monday Schedule

INFINITY's monthly Homeschool Monday returns this August with fun and fascinating themes and activities to engage homeschoolers in hands-on STEM-related learning. Check out our schedule below. General Homeschool Monday activities are geared for homeschoolers ages 12 and under, but of course everyone is welcome! Some sessions have advance lab opportunities for students grades 6-12, available for additional cost. Homeschool Monday activities will be held on the fourth Monday of every month August through March from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.  Let us know you are coming by clicking on the registration links below. Present your registration receipt to the admissions counter for $9 Homeschool Monday admission. August 27, 2018: On the Map

Explore geography in ways you’ve never experienced before! Featuring the National Geographic Giant Floor Maps, take a walk along the Mississippi River, discover how landforms influence where we live and how topographic maps become 3D. and more! Become a world and universe explorer! Maps are so much more than something that is hard to fold!

Sept 24, 2018: Creepy Crawlers 

Worms, caterpillars, butterflies - oh my! Get bugged out at this Homeschool Monday where we'll take a look at insects and other creepy crawlers and delve into the fascinating study of entomology! See what a bug looks like under a microscope and take a walk on the Biome Boardwalk to identify crawlers in the wild. We'll be joined by entomologists from Mississippi State for a presentation you won't want to miss! This session also includes a grasshopper dissection for grades 6-12.

Oct 29, 2018: Mad Science    

This Homeschool Monday will feature hands-on activities and STEM projects that introduce children to basic scientific concepts through fun experiments and demonstrations.

Nov 26, 2018: Robotics   

A branch of engineering and science, the study of robotics  includes  mechanical engineering, electronics engineering, computer science and more. This Homeschool Monday will have your children engaged in activities that will help them understand how robots work and how we use them in everyday application.

Dec 6, 2018: Homeschool Science Fair  

INFINITY's 3rd annual Homeschool Science Fair will be held Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The science fair is open to Homeschoolers who are in kindergarten through 6th grade studies. Registration forms MUST be completed and turned in by November 26, 2018. If you register more than 1 child, please make sure that each child has their own registration form completed. A non-refundable registration fee of $10 per participant will be charged upon completion of your registration.

Need help preparing? Two workshops will be offered to ensure that your project is a success.  The first is Experiment Design.  Students will explore the parts of the scientific method and learn how to design an experiment.  The second will be Presenting a Science Fair Project.  Students will fine-tune their research paper, practice their presentation and design their display. Classes are designed to work together but can be taken individually. Register for the two sessions below.
