September 30: Science

Click here to register for the general session.

Special Lab: The Magic of Chemistry (Ages 12-18 only)

In this lab students will formulate hypothesis’ related to engaging and magical chemistry demonstrations. Prior to each demonstration students will be asked several questions to engage scientific thinking and curiosity. After each demonstration the chemistry concepts will be presented and discussed along with discussion of student’s hypothesis prior to the demonstration. Students will leave with a packet of experiments they can perform at home related to the concepts taught in this lab.  The cost is $3/student and is limited to 40 participants. This lab will be held from 9-30-1030. Click here to register.

November 25: Technology

Special Lab: Using Sensors (Ages 11 and up)

Explore how sensors can be used to collect data. Design an experiment and use a variety of technology and sensors to collect and analyze data. The cost for this lab is $3 per student and must be paid in advance online. Admission fee of $9 per person is to be paid at upon arrival. This class is for ages 11 and up and is open to 20 participants. The class will run from 9:30 a.m. to approximately 10:30 a.m. on November 25 as a part of Technology Home School Monday. Special Lab: Rube-Goldberg (Ages 11 and up)

Learn about simple machines, conservation of energy, and chain reactions.  We will use simple machines to build a Rube-Goldberg device to perform a simple task using a very complicated process. The cost for this class is $3 per student and must be paid online in advance.  Admission fee of $9 per person is to be paid at upon arrival. This class is for ages 11 and up and is open to 20 participants. The class will run from 9:30 a.m. to approximately 10:30 a.m. on January 27 as a part of Engineering Home School Monday. Special Lab: Rubik’s Cube Math (Agest 12-18 only)

Did you know that no matter how a Rubik’s cube is arranged, it can be solved in 20 moves or fewer? This fact will pique your student’s interest and curiosity! In this interactive lab we will use the Rubik’s cube to discuss math concepts (Pythagorean theorem, geometry concepts, factorials, and mosaics) and learn to solve the Rubik’s cube! This is a fun and engaging way for students to learn math concepts while working with and fidgeting with a Rubik’s cube. Students will take home a Rubik’s cube and packet to continue their learning. Class cost is $3/student and is limited to 30 participants. This class will be held from 930-1030. Click here to register.
